I am a junior at La Salle College High School. I am trying to work on my high school requirements and also getting accustomed to a new life in America. In my life, God has saved me from all horrors of war, back in Sudan. Moreover, He has made it possible to come to America, where I am be able to study and do something in the future for myself and others. This past month, I have been learning to operate the video camera and making a film whereby I will be able to make people aware of myself and my experiences. I want to be part of the documentary because I feel that it will be of great importance to let people know who I am, where I am from, my experiences, all that I am going through, and the differences between here and my country.

I have been doing the documentary for the last 2 months and generally the project has been fun although at times it gets to be quite a lot of work. What I like most about doing the project is that I get to reveal everything that I see and experience as I live my life here in America. Also a big part of it is expressing my thoughts on some of issues in everyday life, my previous experiences (hardships) as a refugee, and a war victim in my country and other countries as refuge. What I also like about this documentary is that I get to hang out with friends and use my camera whereby I did not get to do before this project. Therefore, doing this project I guess makes me popular and I get to attend a lot of events freely because of my camera. Last and foremost, doing this project means a lot to me. Through my diary that I do every week, I get to talk about everything in Sudan in comparison to America and also get a chance to let the international community know what is happening in Sudan - about the destruction of war and about Africa at large. Thus, this project means a lot to me, and I hope it goes well to the end!
