While each of the film's six pieces focuses on one person, they're linked together by interpersonal connections. A portrait of Jean Kershaw, a tutor at Lowell Elementary School in Philadelphia. Retired after 41 years as a medical researcher working in a sterile and solitary environment, volunteering allows Kershaw, 71, to pass on knowledge to the young generation - a noble and rewarding endeavor. A third place winner at the Coming Of Age short film contest sponsored by WHYY, United Way of Southeastern PA, AARP and the Temple University Center for Intergenerational Learning.

Stop Killing Taxi Drivers

The Philadelphia Taxi Association hastily organizes a demonstration in August 2001 in immediate response to the shooting death of an African immigrant taxi driver; the fourth taxi driver fatality since the beginning of the year. Fellow African immigrant drivers express their sadness, frustrations and appeal to the City of Philadelphia for protection during a demonstration of over 1,000 drivers. A selection of the Festival of Independents, part of the 2002 Philadelphia Festival of World Cinema and acquired by WYBE-TV Philadelphia Stories 2.

Peter is one of 80 Southern Sudanese refugee youth who resettled in the Philadelphia area in late-2000. The youth gather for the first time in a joyous social evening filled with music and dance. Peter takes this occasion to share his views on the situation which forced him to flee his home and his plans for a new life in Philadelphia.
