Émigré tells the parallel story of two Africans who have resettled outside their home countries - one in Philadelphia and the other in Paris, France. Through personal stories, we witness the ramifications of living in a foreign culture playing out in their everyday lives. As they raise their children in the new culture, they try to come to terms with the gravity of their decision to flee their home country which has now altered the course of their future generations forever. We travel to their home countries and meet their families left behind to see first hand, the conditions that forced them to become an Émigré.
